"Allow me to Reintroduce Myself"

My name is Rafael Priest. I am 21 years old. I was born and raised in Dallas, TX and I love everything there is to love about my city. I attend Texas Christian University and I am a senior Communication Studies major, with a minor in social work and criminal justice. I am going into my last semester and plan on graduating this coming May. I have been putting of this course for three years now, and I finally have to take it if I ever want to graduate. The thing is I am only an o.k. writer. But hopefully, I enjoy this class and the topics we will be discussing and writing about. I am going to be a fourth year starting cornerback for the TCU Football team at the beginning of next season and I have high expectations for my team as well as myself. After graduation in May, I plan on starting on a Master's degree while I compete and fulfill my last year of eligibility on the field. Now I know you may be thinking, Masters = Writing. Yeah I know. But I mean I have been writing papers, text messages, and emails for this long, why not continue for a few more classes to get a better education and better degree. Plus I never said I was a horrible writer, I like to think of myself as a solid writer. :-). Finally, I have read, understand, and agree to the terms of the course syllabus, which I see as a contract for our course.

  1. Raf,
I can definitely tell by your layout alone that you are a guy. The emphasis on football and navy blue really helps me see this. You show attention to detail by putting "solid" in yellow and "I have read, understand, and agree to the terms of the course syllabus, which I see as a contract for our course" in red. I see that you're fun-loving because you used a smiley face in your writing. You seem to be clever because of your title, "Allow me to Reintroduce Myself." I assume that the picture is of you, and I am impressed that you are a football player. The fact that you show yourself on your blog shows that you are proud of your accomplishments. Your blog shows that you're humble because you are willing to criticize your writing; however, your blog also shows that you hold yourself to a high standard and you want people to know you have goals. You seem like a nice, smart, athletic, and fun person. I am excited to watch you grow throughout the semester

  2. Priest,

I love the football picture of you trying/about to catch the ball. It shows that you're really proud of being a football player at TCU, which is a pretty awesome thing to be proud of. Not like you need reiterating on that. The polka dot template is interesting, it's modern and kind of gender neutral but still kind of funky. And the fact that "solid" is in yellow made me jump down to the bottom of the post and laugh, in a good way I promise. The title of the blog "Priest's Blog" is very much to the point, no beating around the bush with you. Your post is rather informal and personable which is pretty cool. Also your posts aren't long drawn out papers nor are they a couple of sentences. Overall seems like you don't like wasting words. The sidebar seems a bit unfinished or not as personable as it could be. Using two pictures of you shows that you're not afraid of puting yourself out there. However, putting up some links that you like reading would be interesting to see. Anyways, I think so far this is a pretty "solid" blog and am interested to read more of your posts.

  3. Priest,
Welcome to the course! I'm glad to have you with us! I've enjoyed reading your post-- you have an excellent narrative voice, which I look forward to seeing more of in the coming semester. I have to mention, too, that I very much enjoy the way you played with the color of your font. It's an interesting and creative way to make arguments of emphasis. Well done. Maybe you could continue to play around with this device in future posts.
